Phil Griffin :   reel/ info
bio

World-renowned director Phil Griffin, joined Bikini in November 2006 for music videos and commercials representation having been named by Promo Magazine as Most Prolific UK Director of the Year in 2005 – for the 5th consecutive year.

His Music Video credits read like a Who’s Who of the airplay charts. Constantly in demand, Griffin’s work has been seen regularly in heavy rotation on MTV, VH1 and The Box, receiving more airplay on those channels than any other director over the past six years.

In true Phil Griffin style his transition into commercials has been as legendary as his music video career. Within weeks of joining Bikini he was off to Prague shooting the new campaign for GHD.  In 2007 with hardly any time to finish singing Auld Lang Syne he was off to Australia on a 4 day shoot for fashion brand TK MAXX. Both spots combining his incomparable fashion eye and background in choreography. Hot off the heels of this he shot another commercial for OLI before shooting Paul McCartney ‘Ever Present Past” followed by two videos, back to back, for Prince.  One in Prague for “Somewhere Here on Earth’ and the other opening Mathew Williamson’s show in Fashion week garnering both artists front page press in many of both international and national newspapers.

Other credits include Michelle Williams, Destiny’s Child, Amy Winehouse, Basement Jaxx and Adele.

Next up was Tassimo which combined both his directing and photographic skills, seeing Phil shoot both the European Poster Campaign as well as the commercial.

Videos for other major international acts followed, before booking Max Factor; consolidating his position as one of the most sought after fashion/beauty directors in the UK. Currently in production on his first featured length film “Bon Jovi, 25 Years in Black & White”, Phil’s career continues to go from strength to strength.

In his first year as a director, Promo Magazine titled Griffin a ‘phenomenon’ and he never looked back from that point on. Before directing full-time, he spent half a decade working for MCA Records. In that time he rose from being a junior in the video department to Head of Creative for the company, commissioning videos for both UK and international artists, such as Mary J. Blige, Ocean Colour Scene, C&C Music Factory, Kim Wilde and Bobby Brown amongst many others.

Griffin originally graduated from Ballet Rambert in London as a dancer and choreographer. Quickly establishing himself as a commercially artistic creative, Phil worked for stars such as Kate Bush, East 17 and Duran Duran. It was during two years as Performance Director for legendary commercial directors Steve Lowe and the Molotov Brothers that Phil discovered a natural flair for directing. His choreography and Creative experience, his understanding of marketing and strategy - not to mention his attention to detail with regard to lighting and beauty - have all made Phil an ambitious force to be reckoned with and a director with truly unique credentials.
